Sherie Scott

Sherie Scott is a servant and transformational leader from Augusta, Georgia. She has been a dedicated Hoosier since 2012, a wife, and mother of 4. Sherie is very active and civically involved in the Indianapolis community, and throughout the State of Indiana.

Sherie has been an educator for 20 years, serving as Director of Schools for the State of Indiana (ICSB)/Indiana Department of Education Vertical supporting 12,000 K-12, and Adult High School students and as the Founding Assistant Principal with the Indianapolis Public Schools Innovation Network, leading students and staff to a Grade A State rating for growth throughout her leadership. Sherie also taught 5th grade in the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township and was awarded Teacher of the Year at Snacks Crossing Elementary School. Prior to moving to Indianapolis, Sherie taught for several years in the Dougherty County School system in Albany, Georgia, where her students achieved high academic growth and proficiency in reading and mathematics throughout the State of Georgia.

She received her B.S. and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from the Historically Black College and University Albany State University in Albany Georgia, and M.Ed. in Educational Administration through the Experiential Program for Preparing School Principals Program at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sherie was in the 2nd Cohort for Indianapolis school leaders in the Relay Graduate School of Education School Leadership: National Principal Academy Fellowship and received certification from Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School in School Management and Leadership.

Sherie is the owner of The Education Toolkit, providing education coaching, public speaking, and tutoring support to elementary and college students. Sherie is also the owner of The Sophisticated Diva, online jewelry, accessories, and apparel boutique. She participates in several community vendor events and sponsors other businesses, specifically women minority owned businesses and businesses of color.

Sherie is actively involved with her community through various community service organizations, The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Indianapolis Chapter- Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Tau Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. education sorority, National Council of Negro Women – Indianapolis Section, Greater Indianapolis Section NAACP, The Exchange at the Indianapolis Urban League, Leading Ladies board member and mentor, Boundless Blessings board member, Delta G.E.M.S. Mentoring, Indianapolis Black Alumni Council, African American Women of Indiana, Sister Alliance, and Girl Gang Indy. Sherie has a love for people, especially youth and community, and has done several speaking engagements and graduation commencement speaking throughout the United States, Georgia, and Indiana.

Sherie is actively committed to bettering the rights for all people, especially women and youth. Sherie has been actively engaged in local and state school boards and heavily involved yearly with the Indiana Legislative Sessions. Sherie is actively involved in the Pike Township Democrat Club, served as precinct committee person, and has supported marketing and strategy for several democratic campaigns for local, state, and national candidates. Most recently, Sherie served as the campaign manager for her husband Maurice Scott for the Indianapolis City-County Council.
