Emily Murray currently serves as the Executive Director of Council on Domestic Abuse, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Vigo County. In this role, she advocates for individuals experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault and homelessness. She prides herself on mentoring the staff within her organization and empowering people in her community. Emily is a dedicated servant leader, volunteering for organizations including: the Wabash Valley Road Runners, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, and Chances And Services for Youth. Additionally, Emily serves as the Secretary of the Homeless Council of the Wabash Valley and serves as the Treasurer for the Wabash Valley Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Emily is a life-long learner, and prides herself on constantly expanding her knowledge. Most recently, she completed a graduate certificate in Philanthropic Fundraising from the IU School of Philanthropy.
Emily is a homegrown Hoosier, having spent half of her life in Westfield and the latter half in Terre Haute, following graduation from Indiana State University. A quick detour followed to Ball State University for graduate school and then back to the Wabash Valley where she planted roots. Outside of work, Emily is a mother to an amazing daughter, Kate, and has three hilarious Shiba dogs. Emily enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, laughing and being with friends. After almost ten years of nonprofit experience, Emily has found her passion in advocating for others – while creating meaningful connections and solving problems for the greater good.
Emily is excited to participate in Hoosier Women Forward’s 2026-2027 class. Thanks to her mom, Emily has always been interested in politics – an interest that started with writing op-eds in the Westfield High School newspaper and has resulted in advocating at the city, county and state levels; and most recently serving as a Delegate to the Indiana Democratic Convention. Emily is energized by this opportunity to connect with and learn from her fellow Hoosier Women Forward cohort members.
