Emily Hodson has been teaching for Washington Township Schools since 2000. For the past decade, she has been on faculty at Allisonville Elementary School. Utilizing the High-Ability license she earned from Ball State University, she now teaches high-ability fifth graders. Twice named ‘Teacher of the Year,’ Emily is known for the outstanding efforts she makes both inside and outside the classroom for her students.
Spending a majority of her free time finding and leading enrichment programs for her students, she sponsors after-school clubs that focus on math, geography, empowering girls and movie review literacy. Still, she finds the time to incorporate community service and civic engagements into her classrooms regularly.
Emily graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. Her husband Andrew Hodson also teaches, but at North Central High School. The two of them live in Indianapolis with their daughter, Grace and their son, Edilu, who also attend Washington Township Schools.
