Mackenzie Higgins

Mackenzie Higgins serves as the lead Policy Advisor for the Office of the Mayor of Indianapolis Joe Hogsett. In that role, Mackenzie is responsible for developing and carrying out the executive branch policy agenda. A key focus of her position is providing in-depth analysis of social, economic, and public policy trends to lead initiatives aimed at creating economic opportunities for all Marion County families.

Mackenzie joined the Hogsett administration in 2016 as an intern and served as a project manager from January 2017 to June 2018 when she was named lead Policy Advisor.

Prior to joining the Hogsett administration, she was a high school Spanish teacher at Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School.

Mackenzie graduated from University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., and received her MPA from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs – Bloomington. She lives with her wife Sheuna in Indianapolis.
