Dr. Sara Trovinger was born in Auburn, Indiana in 1983. She was in show choir and academic clubs in high school and graduated from DeKalb High School in 2002. She was also actively involved in youth group activities throughout her childhood at the First Church of Christ in Garrett. Upon graduation from high school, Sara moved to Purdue University in West Lafayette to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
Following graduation with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in 2008, Sara returned to Fort Wayne, where she has been pharmacist in both community and hospital practice, ultimately creating an emergency department pharmacy service at Lutheran Hospital. During this time, Sara enrolled in The Graduate School at Purdue University and completed her Master’s Degree in Education in May of 2018. In July of 2015 she joined the faculty of Manchester University as the Assistant Director, and then the Director, of Experiential Education. She joined the faculty of Palm Beach Atlantic University in May of 2020 and served as the Chair of Experiential Education until the Spring of 2021, when she returned to Manchester University. She has served on both state and national committees focusing on pharmacy education. Mostly recently she served as the Chair of the National Women Faculty Special Interest Group for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
Sara has been married to her husband Mark since 2007 and they have an 11 year old son, George. George has been diagnosed with autism since he was 2, opening Sara and Mark up to the world of supporting and championing people who are differently abled. George loves to swim and participates in Special Olympics. Her family also enjoys volunteering in the children’s ministry at Trinity English Church in downtown Fort Wayne, where they are members.
