Leslie Salazar is a first-generation Latina raised in Whiteland, Indiana, by immigrant parents from Mexico. From an early age, her parents instilled in her the value of education and hard work. Her dad worked at a packaging factory, while her mom devoted herself to her cleaning business, both driven by securing a better future for their family. Acknowledging their sacrifices and aspirations for a better life, Leslie became the first member of her family to earn a college degree.
After graduating, Leslie worked at various community organizations in Indianapolis. Most recently, Leslie served as the campaign manager for Indiana House Representative Dr. Victoria Garcia Wilburn, aiding in her successful election. Inspired by her own experiences and the power of community, in 2023, she founded ColoresCreative, a creative agency on a mission to ensure all communities are seen, heard, and valued through community-oriented marketing strategies.
Leslie is a proud alumna and committee member of the Indiana Latino Expo Axis Fellowship. Leslie also serves as a board member and marketing chair for the Latinas Welding Guild, where she holds a welding certification and is a board member of the Indiana Latino Caucus. Leslie currently resides in the Mapleton-Fall Creek neighborhood in Indianapolis with her husband and dog.
