Kristie McKillip is the Managing Director of Midwest Large Business for Duke Energy. Her team is responsible for managing all the largest, most complex, energy intensive customers located in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Prior to her current role, Kristie joined Duke Energy in January of 2011 as a business recruitment executive under the economic development organization and was responsible for recruiting companies in the aerospace and general manufacturing sectors to Duke Energy’s national, six-state service territory.
Before joining Duke, McKillip spent the first 15 years of her career in economic development serving in various leadership capacities at the local, regional and state levels of government, including her time as Director of Business Development for the Indy Partnership where she co-managed the business development team and developed the Region’s international recruitment strategy in Europe. During her years in economic development, she successfully recruited major, fortune 500 companies such as G.E. Aviation, Amazon.com, Pitney Bowes and Medco Health Solutions (now Express Scripts), which marked one of the largest economic development projects in the State of Indiana in 2007.
A native of Depauw, Indiana, McKillip graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and completed her MBA in 2016 at Indiana State University’s Scott College of Business. Kristie is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute and has previously served as a member of the Industrial Asset Management Council, Indiana Economic Development Association and Aerospace Alliance.
Throughout her career, Kristie has remained engaged in United Way, serving in various leadership roles, including Duke Indiana’s 2018 United Way Campaign Chair. Kristie, along with her husband Michael, and son Jaxon, reside in Indianapolis, Indiana.
