Courtney Roberts

Courtney Roberts is the Country Director, Global Health, Eli Lilly and Company. In this role, she oversees a portion of the company’s philanthropic portfolio. She has partnered with local organizations to lead the development and implementation of Lilly’s first-ever global health program in the United States, addressing the cultural, social, environmental, economic and policy barriers to diabetes care in three underserved Indianapolis neighborhoods. Globally, she is leading the development and implementation of a breast and cervical cancer early detection and treatment program in three counties in Western Kenya, in partnership with AMPATH.

In prior roles, Courtney led Lilly’s response to natural disasters and humanitarian crisis by deploying the company’s resources – be it financial, product or employee participation – to meet needs in the affected areas. In this capacity, she led the company’s two largest product donations programs.

Courtney joined Lilly in 2007 in Government Affairs and Public Policy, where she worked to develop and advance the company’s policy positions at the state and federal level. Prior to joining Lilly, she was a public affairs consultant with Bose Public Affairs Group. She has also worked at all levels of government, serving in the administrations of former U.S. Senator Evan Bayh and former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson.

In the community, Courtney currently serves as Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett’s appointee to the Board of Public Works. She also serves on the Development Board for the IU Center for Global Health and AMPATH, as well as the Development Committee for Christel House International. She has previously served on the Executive Committee of Butler University’s Alumni Board of Directors, as well as the Board of Directors of Timmy Global Health and the Indianapolis Art Center.

Courtney graduated from Butler University, and received her J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. She lives in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis, with her husband, Ed Sagebiel, and stepdaughters Caroline and Ellie.
