Ashley is a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana. After growing up among the mint fields of Starke County, she moved to Valparaiso where she currently resides with her husband, three energetic sons, their mischievous dog, and cat. Ashley has been a stay-at-home mom for 11 years.
Inspired by the 2016 election, Ashley’s passion for activism ignited. Despite the challenges of raising young children she spearheaded impactful movements, contributing to the organization of Black Lives Matter protests, energizing March for Our Lives events, and fiercely advocating for reproductive freedom. She is a passionate advocate against domestic violence. She speaks out fervently on the issue, aiming to raise awareness and support for survivors. Ashley is also a passionate advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, promoting inclusivity and equality in her community. During the winter months, she can be found volunteering at a local overnight warming shelter. She is also active with the Nasty Women of Porter County and Northwest Indiana NOW.
She has served as both Treasurer and President of the MOMS Club of Valparaiso: a nonprofit dedicated to supporting stay-at-home moms by providing social activities and community service projects geared towards bettering the lives of women and children in her community. Her leadership in the organization helped expand its reach and impact, empowering more mothers to connect and support each other.
In 2022, Ashley worked as a field organizer for Congressman Frank Mrvans’ successful re-election campaign, gaining valuable experience in grassroots mobilization and community engagement. Currently, she serves as a precinct chair with the Porter County Democrats, where she continues to support local political initiatives, and is a fellow with the Democracy Summer program.
Today, Ashley is working as a Field Manager and GOTV Director for Valerie McCray’s US Senate race, leveraging her skills to advance progressive leadership at a national level. Ashley is an alumna of the Emerging Leaders Project, a reflection of her commitment to personal and professional growth in civic leadership and advocacy. When not engaging in politics, she can be found playing board games with her family, crocheting, or reading.
