Maggie Marystone is Senior Manager of Legal Affairs at WorkMoney, Inc., a national policy and advocacy organization focused on making life more affordable for working Americans. Her career has spanned Chicago city government, nonprofit leadership, and consulting, with years of experience helping organizations navigate complex systems and get things done in high-stakes environments.
Maggie spent nearly a decade in the office of Alderman Helen Shiller in Chicago’s 46th Ward, where she helped drive the community process for the $158 million Wilson Yard Redevelopment — a mixed-income project that transformed a fire-damaged block into affordable housing and community anchors that continue to thrive. She later served as director of the Chicago City Council’s Committee on Human Relations, vice president of operations at the Chicago Workforce Investment Council, and special assistant to the president at Heartland Alliance, a global human rights organization. She is featured in books by Studs Terkel and Helen Shiller.
Since relocating to Jasper in 2023, Maggie has thrown herself into southern Indiana civic life. She co-founded Mid-States Update, an advocacy organization opposing the proposed Mid-States Corridor highway project. She serves as Democratic Precinct Committee Chair in Dubois County, was elected as a State Convention Delegate in 2026, and serves on the Jasper Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
Maggie holds a B.A. in Humanities from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
