Passionate about building a more just society, Beth Harrick forged a unique path to embrace service and leadership across sectors. After earning her PhD in Social Psychology and teaching several years in higher education, she pivoted away from the academic world to a more applied nonprofit setting.
As Director of the Conflict Resolution Center in Richmond, Indiana from 2004-2006, she provided mediation and conflict resolution education for the local community. She then led Girls Inc. of Wayne County for ten years from 2006-2016, including five as co-director after the birth of her son, Xander, championing the mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
After these Executive Director positions, Beth went on to work part time in a number of Richmond and Wayne County community non-profit organizations, including the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Wayne County Foundation, and Morrisson-Reeves Library. In addition, she was elected to Chair the Wayne County Democratic Party from 2017-2021. She continues to serve the local community on the Board of the Women’s Fund of the Wayne County Foundation and the Black Legacy Project of Wayne County, as well as actively volunteering for various roles in the Wayne County Democratic Party and serving as precinct committee representative.
Beth can often be found playing on the pickleball court or cheering on her teenage son, Xander in soccer and tennis, along with her partner, Scott.
