Jimena Holguin

Jimena Holguin is a Latina leader, educator, and community advocate with more than two decades of experience in higher education, global engagement, and civic leadership.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Jimena has lived and worked across Latin America and the United States. Her journey, shaped by migration and international education, reflects a deep commitment to expanding opportunities and strengthening communities through connection, education, and service. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s in Political Science from Los Andes University in Colombia.

She spent over ten years in South Bend, Indiana, where she developed and led international service-learning programs for undergraduate students at the University of Notre Dame.

Jimena now calls Bloomington home. Since relocating in 2022, she has supported efforts to expand educational access, improve health and wellness resources, and engage migrant communities. She serves as a Commissioner on the City of Bloomington Commission on Hispanic and Latine Affairs, advocating for enhanced services and greater access for the city’s Hispanic and Latine population.

At Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Jimena leads initiatives that promote student success through professional development, global learning, and holistic wellbeing. Her work connects students with communities worldwide and prepares them to become thoughtful, engaged, and globally minded leaders.

Her career in international education has taken her to more than 30 countries, where she has built partnerships, led service-learning experiences, and fostered student engagement across cultures. She believes strongly in the power of global learning to inspire empathy, curiosity, and a lifelong commitment to the common good.

As an immigrant, educator, and public servant, Jimena brings a global perspective and deep dedication to the future of Indiana.
