Jenny Okamoto

Originally from Connecticut, Jenny Okamoto brings a deep passion for community impact and a wealth of experience across the nonprofit sector. Her career has taken her from Boston to San Diego to Chicago, before she made Indiana her home.

Jenny has worked across many facets of nonprofit operations—including section and division services, board relations, training, volunteer coordination, event planning, grants, public relations, and communications. Her work has spanned organizations in education, law, civic engagement, and the arts.

Currently, Jenny serves as the Development Manager for Lutheran Child & Family Services of Indiana/Kentucky, Inc. (LCFS), where she oversees donor engagement, grants, volunteer programs, events, and communications. LCFS provides residential and community-based services to children and families across Indiana, and Jenny is proud to support its mission of compassion and care.

Jenny has also been deeply involved in political organizing. She dedicated her time to supporting Pete Buttigieg during his Pete for America (PFA) presidential campaign, founding Indiana for Pete, and working with regional campaign offices in Iowa. She coordinated events, trainings, and volunteer programs to amplify the campaign’s reach. Jenny and her team later launched Indiana for Joe to support President Joe Biden’s successful 2020 campaign. She also contributed to key races such as the Jon Ossoff Senate run-off in Georgia and Naomi Bechtold’s campaign for state office in Indiana. Jenny co-founded Building Bridges for America with other former PFA state leads, offering training and support to grassroots organizers nationwide. Jenny’s passion is driven by a desire to provide a sense of belonging, build strong communities, and help other people put their passion into action.

When she’s not working and volunteering, Jenny enjoys gardening, restoring her 100-year-old home, and spending time with her kids and their three long-haired dachshunds.
