A Gary, Indiana native, Tai Adkins was recently elected as the democratic nominee to serve as the 4th District councilperson on the Gary City Council.
Tai received an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a B.S. Degree in Industrial Management and Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and hold distinctions as a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) as well as a Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD).
As a businesswoman, Tai has acquired in-depth business experience while working for several Fortune 500 companies. Today, Tai currently works as a Sourcing Solutions Development Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a leader in the commercial real estate industry. She has a strong background within the supply chain management arena of business having also worked for the world’s largest commercial real estate entity, CBRE as a Category Manager where she developed and implemented sourcing strategies for the US, Canada, Mexico and Latin America within the Global Workspace Solutions group.
Prior to her time at CBRE Tai obtained broad experience across various industries. Tai has worked for leading consumer products company Colgate-Palmolive. Before her time at Colgate Tai previously worked for Eaton Corporation, a diversified industrial products manufacturer. Throughout her years at Eaton Tai was able to obtain experience in various positions of increasing responsibility across the multiple business units. Her last role at Eaton was in the capacity of a Global Supply Chain Program Manager where she managed complex supply chain transitions across the US, UK, Mexico and Canada.
Tai is looking forward to using her global business experience to bring innovative ideas to the City of Gary.
Tai is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, leading her community block club and attending sporting events.
