She serves as the Chair of the Ninth District Indiana Young Democrats, Deputy Chair of Training & Education for the Ninth District Democratic Party, and Vice Chair of the Monroe County Democratic Women’s Caucus. Kaisa is a proud graduate of Hoosier Women Forward and was elected by her classmates to serve as the Class 2 Alumni HWF Board Member.

Kaisa’s political career is rooted in organized labor: even as a child, she attended the annual Eugene V. Debs dinner in Terre Haute, and she has served on the Debs Foundation board since 2014. While an employee at Bloomingfoods Market & Deli, she was a leader in the employees’ successful efforts to unionize. Kaisa helped negotiate their initial contract using Interest Based Bargaining, a collaborative and issue-focused approach to negotiations, after becoming certified by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Interest Based Problem Solving. She later served as a union steward with UFCW Local 700.

Kaisa served as the inaugural Executive Director for the Monroe County Democratic Party (2017-19). She managed the successful reelection campaigns of Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton (2019) and Bloomington City Councilmember Dave Rollo (2015). From 2015-17, she was a board member for Democracy for Monroe County (Secretary 2015-16, Vice Chair 2016-17), and she is a graduate of the IDP Emerging Leaders Project.

A native of Indiana, Kaisa resides in Bloomington with her fiance, Nico; stepson, Oliver; and cat, Rogue.
