Applications for the 2021-2022 Class are now available!

 

Application Eligibility 

All applicants must be at least 25 years of age. Applicants must be able to demonstrate leadership in their places of work or in the community and have a strong commitment and desire to serve the public good.  

Some dates of the program may require participants to miss work or family functions. Class members are required to attend the first and last sessions in full and may miss no more than one of the other class days in aggregate. Failure to meet these requirements will jeopardize the class member’s graduation and alumna status. If an applicant has a conflict with one or more program dates below, that applicant is encouraged to apply another year. 

All sessions will be held in downtown Indianapolis, with the exception of the trip to Washington, D.C.

While there is no cost to participate in the program, participants will be responsible for paying for their transportation to and from the program and flying to and from Washington D.C. in April. Financial aid is available for those who need assistance with transportation costs. All financial aid requests are kept confidential. Hotel rooms will be provided at no cost to class members for sessions that are two days or more.

 

2021-2022 Program Dates*

2021:  

Saturday, August 28 from 10am – 4:30pm

Wednesday, September 29 at 1pm through Thursday, September 30 at 1pm

Note: The September class session coincides with Hoosier Women Forward’s Annual Luncheon on Thursday, September 30. There will be evening programming on Wednesday night and all class members will be staying at a hotel in Indianapolis. 

Friday, October 29 from 10am – 4:30pm

Friday, December 10 from 10am – 4:30pm, with optional evening event. 

 

2022: 

Tuesday, January 25 from 9am – 7pm, including a mandatory reception from 5-7pm

Saturday, February 19 from 10am – 4:30pm

Saturday, March 19 from 10am – 4:30pm

Wednesday, April 27 at 4pm through Saturday, April 30 at 11am (Washington. D.C.)

Note: The April trip to Washington, D.C. will also include alumnae who were not able to visit D.C. during their respective program years due to the pandemic. 

Thursday, May 19 at 5pm through Friday, May 20 at 4:30pm

Note: The May event date coincides with the Hoosier Women Forward Spring Fundraiser and Graduation on Thursday, May 19. There will be evening programming and all class members will be staying at a hotel in Indianapolis.

*Hoosier Women Forward intends to hold the class next year in person as scheduled. However, we recognize that the public health pandemic and emergency may alter those plans beyond our control. We remain committed to providing program content either in person or virtually and at the same high quality that we have always provided based on the technology available and public health emergency recommendations provided by federal, state and local government. 

 

Application Instructions

The general application form and the $25 application fee must be received by Wednesday, June 23 at 5:00pm Eastern time. Letters of reference must be received directly from the reference writer electronically in PDF form by Friday, June 25 at 5:00pm Eastern time. Any portion of the application received after these stated deadlines will automatically eliminate the applicant from consideration.

To pay your application fee via check, please send your check to the following address and notify info@hoosierwomenforward.org once you have done so. We will accept checks postmarked by the application deadline of Wednesday, June 23 if proper notification has been made.

All applicants for Hoosier Women Forward must have references from two community sponsors. Please click on the reference form link in the application, send the reference form to your two sponsors, and ask them to follow the instructions for submitting in PDF form to info@hoosierwomenforward.org. It is your responsibility to make the necessary requests for letters of reference and to ensure their timely submission. Hoosier Women Forward Board Members, Executive Director, and Staff may not serve as sponsors.

You will receive a confirmation email upon submission of your general application and application fee. Similarly, once BOTH letters of reference have been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation. Again, it is your responsibility to ensure your application and fee are in by June 23 and your two letters of reference are in by June 25. There will be no deadline extensions for any reason. 

All information submitted herein will be kept confidential with the Selection Committee, composed of members of the Hoosier Women Forward Board of Directors. The Selection Committee will make every effort to choose a class that reflects the ethnic and geographic diversity in Indiana. Applicants will be judged on accomplishments to date, leadership capabilities, and their level of commitment to moving Indiana forward with progressive policies and ideals. 

Finalists may be contacted for interviews conducted via video conference during the week of July 18. All applicants will receive a response regarding the status of their application by August 2.
